Shopping - Went out today to buy bittermelon and get some lunch. The Mars Internet/Karaoke Box has just opened in the mall, so they were handing out flyers. A room for 3 people is about $20/hour; it is $70/hour if you want a room big enough for 35 people. In the center of the mall were a few tables selling VCDs. We bought one called “mingtian wo ai ni” (tomorrow I’ll love you). Despite the similarity to a little orphan annie song, it was a nice comedy. Now I am just hoping they plan on keeping the VCD tables around at the mall awhile longer, because movies like this are nice for learning Chinese. I have heard that Windows Media Player can play VCDs, but I sure couldn’t figure out how. I tried a few other players before deciding to pay the $35 for Cinematograph. It already has a version that works full-screen on Windows XP, and the quality seems much better than the others; no skipping or jumping.
